Botox is a purified form of a protein, that blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles. When it is injected into a muscle, it can no longer contract, whach causes the wrinkles to temporarily relax and soften. By reducing the activity of the muscle it can even reduce the amount of new lines forming.
You will be asked a number of questions about your general health and after a full discussion you will be asked to sign a consent form.
The skin is cleaned and the procedure itself takes no more than 20-30 minutes. Most patients experience minimal pain, although this is very individual. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied if needed.
side effects
These are very rare, but include a small amount of swelling around the injection sites and occasionally a headache. In some cases bruisng can occur, but this can usually be covered with make up. If any unwanted side effects occur, you can contact me.
Dermal Fillers
Fillers are made from a substance found naturally in the body. They are injected underneath the surface of the skin to create a fuller and more youthful look. They are commonly used to soften deeper lines and to create fullness and define the contour of the lips. They are often used to soften the smile lines around the mouth and to reduce a downwards slant at the corner of the mouth.
Before the treatment the skin is cleaned and a local anaesthetic can be applied. The filler is injected below the surface of the skin. Ice can then be applied to reduce swelling and bruising.
As with Wrinkle reducing injections, a full consultation is held beforehand, and this will help decide the right filler for you.
